Here I am on a class field trip. We went to the weaving museum. I'm sporting a Piggly Wiggly Tee. [[Special shout out to all my phatties for being "Big on the Pig" with me in South Carolina - Kate you were there in spirit]]
On this day I had my third exam at school. I did fairly well, now I only have one more to go next Friday!
After I took my exam, we watched a movie about a frozen child from the Inca time period. I'm pretty sure her name was Juliana.
Fun Fact: Did you know that the Incans often offered children as human sacrifices? Before they would kill them, they would get the children drunk so that they would be less prone and likely to experience the pain and know what was going on.
After the documentary, our class took a field trip to the weaving museum. At the museum, we got to observe examples of all of the different types of weaving and clothing that encompasses typical dress in Peru.
Here is a picture of a Peruvian woman weaving inside of the store.
After school, Nichole and I walked from convenient store to convenient store in search of potato sacks for one of our olympic events for the girls at Buen Pastor. We were able to find them and had to pay one sole for each.
It's a little baffling to think that we actually paid for someone else's trash.
Then, we made our way over to Buen Pastor. Unfortunately, as I have mentioned in my previous post, the girls were busy doing homework and wash so we had to reschedule our olympic event for Monday.
After Buen Pastor, Nichole, Estefania and ventured over to a district that we have yet to explore much of, San Blas.
The area was very artsy and most of the goods there were more expensive than other goods we have encountered. We wound up shopping for a bit and then going to a place called Jack's Cafe for dinner.
Here I am at Jack's
I got a sandwich with hummus, eggplant, red peppers, lettuce, olives and avocado. This may seem like a 'typical' sandwich to have in the states, but let, me, tell, you, having this sandwich was quite a change of pace from what I have been eating these past three weeks.
After Jack's we went back to the hostel and had a meeting about this weekend's trip to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu.
Well, I think that's a good place to end my Friday's telling. Get ready to hear about my mini-vacation to one of the 7 wonders of the world!
Hasta pronto mis amores =)
